Test one- High-density polyethylene (HDPE)

Best for: Tough, lightweight products that need moisture and chemical resistance.

• Advantages: Good toughness, chemical resistance and low material density.
• Limitations: Relatively high shrinkage; warpage and dimensional variation require attention.
• Typical melt temperature: Around 180–260°C.
• Typical mould temperature: Around 20–60°C.
• Common products: Crates, caps, storage bins, household containers and utility components.

Manufacturing insight: Design ribs and wall thicknesses carefully. HDPE can be economical for products that do not require a glossy, premium surface finish.
